A bit more about me...

Qualifications. Passions. Experience.

Qualified, Registered and Insured

Did you know that Counselling is not a legally regulated profession? So, rather shockingly, some counsellors have received no training, and are not regulated to ensure they are treating clients safely and ethically! So, one of the most important things that you need to know about me, is that I am a fully insured, Qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist with an Advanced Counselling Diploma (Levels 2-5), Registered and Accredited by the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. I am also DBS-checked.

Counselling style

I am an Integrative counsellor which means that your counselling journey is bespoke and unique to you. I am professionally trained in Person-Centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic therapy. When suitable, I also bring Internal Family Systems therapy, Transactional Analysis, Neurolinguistic Programming, Mindfulness and Trauma-Informed counselling methods.

Together we will go on a life-changing journey of exploration to find what works for you.

Nature and the great outdoors!

I love animals and have a passion for nature and the outdoors, and these can be so beneficial for our mental health, especially when combined with mindfulness and movement.

I have worked and played in the outdoors all my life. For me there is no tonic like getting out into the hills. With 20+ years experience of hiking, and navigation / first aid qualifications I am keen to share the healing power of the great outdoors with like-minded clients too. See more about my Talk and Walk sessions here.

Child and Domestic abuse

As well as counselling, in my 25 year career I served as a police officer / detective constable for 8 years – specialising and supporting victims in Child Abuse and Domestic Abuse Safeguarding and Investigation. I understand the added stress, trauma and unique pressures emergency service works put on individuals, their families and on their wellbeing. I have so much respect for those who work in these professions, and offer specialised counselling for police, fire and ambulance workers. Find out more here.

Charitable counselling

I believe that counselling should be available to everyone, and I know that private counselling can be expensive. So I'm proud to be a counsellor and fundraiser for Don't Lose Hope on a weekly basis. It is an amazing charity in Bourne that provides free and low-cost counselling to those who are on benefits or who do not have the funds to afford private counselling.
